What's in the Riftbound Unleashed Set?
By RiftCompare · · Originally published on RiftCompare
219 base cards, 61 Showcase printings and 12 Legends — the real rarity, domain and card-type breakdown of Unleashed, from our own catalogue.
The short version
- 219 base cards, numbered 001/219 through 219/219 with no gaps — two fewer than Spirit Forged and the smallest full set before Vendetta.
- Rarity splits 60 Common / 63 Uncommon / 60 Rare / 36 Epic across the base set, plus 61 Showcase-tier printings on top, 12 of which are Signature Legends.
- Units are 119 of the 219 — more than half — followed by Spells (54), Gear (19), Battlefields (15) and Legends (12).
- Fury and Calm tie for the largest domain at 38 cards each; Chaos and Order sit at 30 each, Colorless adds 15, and again no Legend is Chaos or Order.
Unleashed (set code UNL) is Riftbound's third full expansion, the one between Spirit Forged and Vendetta. It is also the set that, at the time of writing, supplies more of the game's most expensive cards than its size would suggest, which makes knowing exactly what's in it more useful than for most sets. What follows is the real breakdown from our own catalogue — by rarity, card type and domain, plus a full accounting of the Showcase and Signature printings above the base set — rather than a figure copied from somewhere else.
The headline number: 219 base cards
Unleashed's collector numbers run from 001/219 to 219/219 with no gaps: a complete base set of 219 cards. That's two fewer than Spirit Forged's 221, and well under the 298 of Origins. Riot's sets settled at this size for two releases before Vendetta dropped to 166.
Above the base 219 there are 61 Showcase-tier printings, and, as with Spirit Forged, they're three different kinds of card:
- 30 Showcase versions of base-set cards that keep their original collector number. All 30 are Units, and every one is a champion or a jungle monster you'll recognise — Jhin, Murderous Artist (022), Vi, Hotheaded (030), Elder Dragon (118), Baron Nashor (147), Rift Herald (179) and so on.
- 7 over-numbered Showcase Units at 220/219 through 225/219 and 238/219. The first six are the Poro cycle — Pouty Poro, Lonely Poro, Plundering Poro, Veteran Poro, Mystic Poro and Daring Poro — and none of them is a base-set Unleashed card: three are Origins Poros and three are Spirit Forged Poros, given a Showcase frame and slotted into this set's numbering. The seventh, at 238, is Baron Nashor's Ultimate printing — the set's single Ultimate-rarity card, a tier above the other over-numbers and pulled at the same odds as a Signature (about one per 30 boxes). Baron already has a Showcase printing at his base number 147.
- 12 Showcase Legends at 226/219 through 237/219, one per Legend, each of which also comes as a Signature printing with the artist's signature on the art and a star in the collector number.
That's 61 printings of 49 distinct cards, and a full main print run of 280 printings. Our Unleashed set page counts higher because it also tracks promo and event printings, which sit outside the numbered run.
The important difference from Spirit Forged: there, the twelve Signatures were over-numbered Showcase Units. In Unleashed, the Signatures are the Legends. If you're chasing a signed card from this set, it's a champion card, and the Signature printings page lists all of them with live prices.
Rarity breakdown
| Rarity | Cards |
|---|---|
| Common | 60 |
| Uncommon | 63 |
| Rare | 60 |
| Epic | 36 |
| Base total | 219 |
| Showcase-tier printings (incl. 12 Signature) | 61 |
The split is almost a copy of Spirit Forged's — the same 60 Common, 63 Uncommon and 60 Rare, with 36 Epics instead of 38 — so if you know one set's shape you know the other's. Uncommon is again the largest tier, and Rare is printed in exactly the same numbers as Common, which is the main reason a Rare from either set is rarely a difficult pickup on its own.
Where Unleashed differs is what its Epics are. 23 of the 36 Epics are Units (Spirit Forged had 15), with 10 Epic Spells and only 3 Epic Gear. By domain, Fury and Calm have 8 Epics each, Mind and Body 6, and Chaos and Order 4 — the same ordering as the set overall.
Card type breakdown
| Type | Cards |
|---|---|
| Unit | 119 |
| Spell | 54 |
| Gear | 19 |
| Battlefield | 15 |
| Legend | 12 |
This is the most Unit-heavy set of the three: 119 of 219 cards, or 54%, are Units, against 48% in Origins and 48% in Spirit Forged. The trade-off is Gear, which falls to 19 cards from Spirit Forged's 42 — less than half. If a deck wants equipment it looks to Spirit Forged; if it wants bodies, it looks here.
As in Spirit Forged there are no Runes, and the 15 Battlefields are all Uncommon.
| Type | Common | Uncommon | Rare | Epic |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Unit | 39 | 23 | 34 | 23 |
| Spell | 18 | 17 | 9 | 10 |
| Gear | 3 | 8 | 5 | 3 |
| Battlefield | — | 15 | — | — |
| Legend | — | — | 12 | — |
Domain breakdown
| Domain | Cards |
|---|---|
| Fury | 38 |
| Calm | 38 |
| Mind | 34 |
| Body | 34 |
| Chaos | 30 |
| Order | 30 |
| Colorless | 15 |
Perfectly paired: Fury and Calm at 38, Mind and Body at 34, Chaos and Order at 30, plus 15 Colorless. It's the same tiering as Spirit Forged with two cards moved from Calm to Fury, and the same as Origins in ordering if not in size. A single-domain build gets 30 to 38 on-domain cards from Unleashed plus the 15 Colorless.
The twelve Legends
All twelve Unleashed Legends are Rare, and the domain spread repeats Spirit Forged's exactly — four Fury, four Calm, two Mind, two Body, and no Chaos or Order Legend. Between the two sets that's 24 Legends and not one for Chaos or Order; those domains' champions come from Origins and Vendetta.
| # | Legend | Domain |
|---|---|---|
| 181 | Jhin, Virtuoso | Fury |
| 183 | Rengar, Pridestalker | Fury |
| 185 | Pyke, Bloodharbor Ripper | Fury |
| 187 | Vi, Piltover Enforcer | Fury |
| 189 | Lillia, Bashful Bloom | Calm |
| 191 | Master Yi, Wuju Master | Calm |
| 193 | Vex, Gloomist | Calm |
| 195 | Ivern, Green Father | Calm |
| 197 | Diana, Scorn of the Moon | Mind |
| 199 | LeBlanc, Deceiver | Mind |
| 201 | Kha'Zix, Voidreaver | Body |
| 203 | Poppy, Keeper of the Hammer | Body |
Each Legend's Showcase printing sits at 226 to 237 in the same order (Jhin at 226, Rengar at 227, through Poppy at 237), and each of those twelve numbers also exists as a Signature. Every champion has a hub page collecting all of their printings across every set with live prices — Jhin, Rengar, Pyke, Vi, Lillia, Master Yi, Vex, Ivern, Diana, LeBlanc, Kha'Zix and Poppy.
The in-numbered Showcase Units follow the same champions: two apiece for the Legends (Jhin, Murderous Artist and Jhin, Meticulous Killer; Vi, Hotheaded and Vi, Peacekeeper; Poppy, Paragon and Poppy, Defender of the Meek, and so on), plus the six jungle monsters — Red Brambleback, Blue Sentinel, Vilemaw, Elder Dragon, Baron Nashor and Rift Herald.
The cost curve
Our catalogue stores each card's printed energy cost, so here is the set's real curve across the 192 base-set Units, Spells and Gear (Legends and Battlefields have no cost):
| Energy cost | Cards |
|---|---|
| 1 | 12 |
| 2 | 49 |
| 3 | 43 |
| 4 | 31 |
| 5 | 27 |
| 6 | 15 |
| 7 | 5 |
| 8–10 | 8 |
| 12 | 2 |
Unleashed runs noticeably heavier than Spirit Forged. 32% of costed cards are at 2 or less (Spirit Forged: 36%), the average cost is about 3.7 energy against 3.4, and the top end is where the set really separates itself: two 12-energy cards — Elder Dragon and Master Yi, Unstoppable, both Epic — plus two at 10 (Baron Nashor and Atakhan). Spirit Forged's most expensive card costs 10. Among Units, 3 might is the most common value (27 Units), but the ceiling is 12 might, reached by both Baron Nashor and Master Yi, Unstoppable; the biggest Unit in Spirit Forged tops out at 9.
That top end is a big part of why Unleashed shows up in the most expensive Riftbound cards list more than its 219-card size would predict.
What this means if you're collecting or buying
- A complete base set is 219 cards, 183 of them Common, Uncommon or Rare. Those three tiers are printed evenly, so finishing them with singles is cheap; the cost of a full set is concentrated in the 36 Epics and the Showcase tier. Paste a whole want list into the deck builder and it will total it at the cheapest live price per card.
- Know which Showcase you're buying. A Showcase of a base card, an over-numbered Poro reprint and a Signature Legend are three different products with very different prices, and only the collector number distinguishes them on a listing. The rarity and printings guide walks through each.
- The Signatures are champion cards here. Twelve signed Legends, one per champion, at 226★ through 237★ — if you're going to chase one, the champion hubs above show every printing of that champion side by side so you can see what the signed version costs relative to the base and Showcase.
- Unleashed is Unit-heavy and top-heavy. If you're buying for a deck rather than a binder, this is the set for big bodies and Epic Units; if you need Gear, look at Spirit Forged first. The Unit card list and the Epic card list both cover every set, sortable by price.
- Watch the launch windows. A new set moves an old one's prices in both directions, and Radiance is next. The price movers page shows what's shifting each day, and a price alert on any card tells you when it does.
